NIST potential Privacy Harms for individuals

NIST potential Privacy Harms for individuals

NIST provides potential privacy harms for individuals as;

a. Confidentiality Issues – IoT devices can collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) without a person’s consent (some due to lack of interfaces for the same) which poses a great danger to people interacting with IoT devices.

b. Regulation Issues – IoT devices are highly unregulated in standards and legal frameworks as they are still new in the world of technology which poses a great danger to people’s privacy.

c. Accountability Issues – Due to the decentralized data processing and heterogenous ownership, IoT devices can be hard to rely on for accountability which poses a potential threat to privacy.
