jobs

The ‘jobs‘ command in Linux-based OSes displays all user’s jobs. Jobs are owned by users in contrast to processes which are owned by the kernel. When you run ‘jobs‘ in Fedora, the command lists all jobs in the background and foreground in a format similar to;

[1]+ Stopped gnome-calculator

The output has different fields. The ‘1‘ in [1] indicates the job number while the ‘+‘ symbol in the jobs list indicates that the job is the most current.
