Processes used to help determine an individual’s suitability for a given position

Before an individual is given a position in an organization, they must go through a rigorous vetting process to avoid unneccessary unfortunate eventualities after employment. Some of these processes are;

1. Academic Qualification Checks – This is the most basic process to determine an individual’s fit for a given position. It involves reviewing the academic documents provided by the applicant and crosschecking them against the position’s requirements. This process also involves doing a check with the relevant bodies for correctness of the documents.

2. Experience Qualification Check – This process is often confused with the academic qualification check but there lies a clear line between them though they are related. Experience is anchored on the academic qualifications but is directed towards perfection of specific skills. It involves professional certifications often provided by industry-specific professional bodies. Added to the certificates is the number of years that one has worked in a closely related field.

3. Background Checks – This process involves doing checks on the identity of an applicant. Identity checks can involve basic activities like confirming the names to advanced checks like confirming with relevant authorities of the place of birth and whereabouts of the applicant.

4. Criminal Record Check – This is a process that involves checking with respective law enforcement agencies if the applicant has a criminal record and if they have, checking how serious, relevant and recent it was.

5. Financial Checks – This involves checking with respective agencies whether the applicant is tax compliant and other details about their finances like their credit score. Financial status can be exploited by adversaries to gain leverage on personnel to force them to reveal sensitive information about the organization or cause sabotage.
